From Albaida to Montevideo. A life devoted to orchestral music, chamber music and creativity.
Orchestral experience and the intimacy of chamber music come together in a career spanning performance, composition and teaching.
I am César Roig Espí, a Valencian trombonist based in Montevideo. I am principal trombone of the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional del SODRE and a teacher at the Sistema de Orquestas Juveniles e Infantiles del Uruguay.
I have performed with the London Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble intercontemporain, Orquesta Sinfónica RTVE and the orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, among others. My experience includes the Lucerne Festival Academy and performances under Sir Simon Rattle, Alan Gilbert, Matthias Pintscher and Sir Neville Marriner.
Alongside orchestral performance, I develop chamber music projects and use composition to connect my roots with the music of Latin America.
Different ensembles, one shared aim: to explore the trombone’s possibilities and bring its voice to new audiences.
Founded in 2024 with Yango Cabrera, Maximiliano Paulsen and Mario Vega. A space for original repertoire, arrangements and dialogue between four voices.
In 2025, the quartet performed as soloists with the OSSODRE in Jan Koetsier’s Concertino.
